Okay, the title may sound a little too over the top but should the midget-y yet powerful social network hire someone to watch over every tweet submitted to prevent threats and bullying before they’re about to happen? Should Twitter come up with an idea to filter tweets that if any profane or R-rated words are included, it’ll be held for moderation?

I don’t know if you have heard about the latest buzz between Mike Tyson and Twitter – how a “tweeter”, under the name @ObamasMistress, posted death threats on her account against the boxing champion. The said Twitter user said that the threat wasn’t a joke and boasted that it was going to be like what happened in Aurora during the showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

Other than celebrities being bullied or threatened on Twitter, people like us experience it, as well. For example, expressing a harmless opinion and trying to let it fit in the 140 characters. It goes public and someone notices it and dislikes your tweet. Just because they didn’t like what they read they start to bully you and try to prove you wrong. Then come the huge mob of people who start attacking you and calling you names. Chances are, you could be threatened just like Mike Tyson.

So, going back to the whole moderation thing; would it be advisable if Twitter should do something this big when it comes to their members’ tweets? If the popular site were to cook up a plan like this, it would mean risking one of its purposes to the increasing number of Twitter members. Twitter users enjoy the fact that they can express themselves freely with just 140 characters. The thought of having their normal tweet being watched over by the website as if it’s under a microscope is not a good way to go. Imagine writing a really long blog comment and when you hit the Send button, you’re greeted with a popup that says: “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” Who likes the sound of that? Nobody does.

Another reason why I think that Twitter shouldn’t keep a close eye on tweets is how time consuming it is. Nobody has enough time to locate every word that spells danger or bullying. By the time they finish doing so, another bundle of tweets that need specific attention just arrived. It just isn’t possible to do them in such a short amount of time. They could use filters, though, the same as those in Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. But then again, these people can change how their tweets are structured and spelled.

There are so many factors that would or could drive Twitter to do something about these cyber bullying and death threats even if they’re regarded to as a joke or not. They got subpoenaed for it because of some immature tweet made by some mildly disturbed individual. Yet if they were to try to prevent these things from happening, it could cost them a lot especially financially. And if they’re going to leave it at that, how many more members, like @ObamasMistress, are there going to be? Or better yet how many members are going to send Twitter to court?

Where there ever days that a client asked you to make a design for them or someone came running to you to help them out in writing an article?

Let’s take that aside for a moment and look at situations wherein you’re staring out in space, in front of your laptop, not stopping for a blink. You don’t know how to begin and make an attention-grabbing intro. You can’t decide what color combination fits a client’s website, or there just seems to be no new great concept for a short film you’re planning to publish on YouTube because some of the best ones are overused.

Freelancers and multimedia folks are all too familiar with this. But for the benefit of those who haven’t experienced dealing with clients, including yourself, that needed this and that on a specific day, this is commonly known as creative block.

Creative block can happen just about any time. Every so often, it wouldn’t just take a day or two. It could take months or even years before you can get your creative juices back. For designers, that would be a total nightmare seeing that their line of job demands more critical thinking and creative output. Running out of ideas could mean losing their appetite for creativity and determination to think of a design in a rush especially if the deadline is almost coming up. For everyone else, creative block is just frustrating knowing that you’re losing your zest for doing something constructive.

Before we dive into how just about anybody can burst out from this mind traffic, let us take a look at the factors that affect your imaginativeness. Who knows? You might not realize, until today, that these things could have been the reasons why you cannot get anything started.

Stress

It could be sitting at the comfort of your own home or even at the office. Stress plays with your mind and mixes different types of emotions, therefore, leading to emotional issues that can stop you from thinking straight.

Overburdened

Nobody is in control if multiple projects have to be submitted on the same day. Having too much going on with too little time can be overwhelming and you end up cramming to get it all done.

Lack of Sleep

A tired brain can’t function well, thus, stopping you from simulating any idea that could possibly be the biggest thing that you’ve done just yet.

Procrastination

Just because you’ve got a lot of time to spare doesn’t mean you have to slack your way to it. Nobody’s gotten to where they are today if they just mope around.

So, how will one be able to break out from the dangerous zone that is creative block? Leave us to do the listing, based on personal experience that has helped many of us at Creative Frappe deal with this situation almost every day.

There are more ways in which you can divert yourself from the factors that affect your creative thinking. It’s just out there, waiting for you to see it. Spend most of your time away from the computer if you’re still in the middle of creative block and who knows? Inspiration might be right around the corner.

The 22nd of June 2012 was more than just celebrating the birthday of one of our officemates. It was also the day we commemorated the Philippine Independence Day, a day when every Filipino in the world rejoice and remember how our national heroes fought for the freedom from the Spanish rule for more than 300 years.

What better way to honor the people who fought for our countrymen’s freedom but to dress up like we lived during that era? Yet another one of our Crazy Friday ideas that sent the people in the building confused and shocked to see us bundled up like their grandparents.

The men of Creative Frappe were either suited up as rich people, Sultans or the Katipuneros (members of a silent group back in 1892 to promote the patriotism and revolutionary of the Filipino people). The girls, however, wore attires that resemble the women who worked for the rich people and those who also fought for freedom.

As part of the Philippine Independence Day, the big bosses started a trivial game which consists of questions about the Philippine History. Spiffs were given, of course, which made the whole activity a lot more fun.

Even though we’ve only known about our country’s history from books, stories from our grandparents and teachers and movies, we have placed it in our minds and hearts that what the generation before ours did to free the Filipinos from the bondage and colonization of the Spaniards is not easy. And to fight for it for years is not something many of us would do today.

Our hats off to our national heroes and for giving our country and people the independence that we deserve.

I am a social media addict and so are millions of people in this planet.

When Friendster first came out in 2002, an hour wasn’t enough. With MySpace, I didn’t even sign up mainly because the former was hot like pancakes back in the days. And then, Facebook went live in 2004, Twitter became the famous 140 characters status update.

So, what do these social networks have in common? A lot, actually. You sign up, search for new and old friends, you play games (except for the old Friendster) and communicate. And these similarities could be the sole reason why social networks tend to die or fade away like any other trend. People become all too familiar with how they work that in a few years’ time, the familiarity turns into a boring habit.

Just when everybody is still in these social networks’ phase, Pinterest was released on March 2010 as a closed beta, according to Wikipedia. I was able to know it through its name but never as a social network that could later turn into one of the internet’s biggest names. How it works and what it can do was out of my vocabulary. To me, it was nothing more than a website that has numerous “pictures” posted by its members. Little did I know that I’d regret not signing up to it when it was still in its beta stage.

What does Pinterest possess that couldn’t be found in the big names of social network? It’d be a misconception to say it doesn’t run a mile. To begin with, Pinterest has no chat system like Facebook has nor does it have the ability to let your friends or followers know what you did today. Well, okay, Pinterest can slightly do just that but it’s no Twitter. These two are completely different in terms of how they mainly work.

Pinterest is like a breath of fresh air for people who log in to the internet on a daily basis, even for smartphone users. It’s as simple as 1,2,3. You sign up and simply click the “Pin It” button whenever you find images, videos and infographics that are worth the share. These uploads are better known as Pins and your collection of these pins are found in your pinboard, as they call it.

You might be thinking, “My pinboard could end up being a mess!” Under what category? See, another reason why Pinterest is such a great website is because of its visual interest and how easy it is on the eyes. It’s basically designed for your own taste. You have the capability to categorize your pins so that it’ll be easy for you and your followers to lay out different inspirations, effortlessly. You also have the authority to name each category. So, there is no way you get confused yourself.

Take Design Sponge, for example. Their pins are categorized based on how they see it fit. You can breeze through them without actually getting lost.

Another reason that I like about Pinterest is the huge and growing numbers of images and videos are posted in this website. You will never find any boring stuff and it just makes you want to look at it in its full resolution. Trust me, I tried avoiding it because I have to hit the sack early, but I can’t; which brings me to another topic and why businesses should indulge in Pinterest.

You can’t deny at how fast this social network has risen ever since site owners and web developers can install or embed a button for your visitors to pin any image they like from your website. What Pinterest does is that it puts the link to where they’ve found the image, therefore, linking the picture to directly to your domain. All you have to do is sign up on Pinterest where people can find you easily. Share your pins and repins and likes will follow.
If your business site is about designing, interior designing or anything that’s close to that niche, it can possibly help you gain more customers and visitors. With the power of sharing on the internet these days, a simple pin can bring your image or video to places.

However, as I said earlier in this article, social networks are just a trend. It can be the biggest thing today but when a new internet craze decides to become the bigger person than Pinterest, it will walk the same path as MySpace and Friendster did. Heck, even I’ve lost interest in Facebook and will eventually go on as long as these silly updates by Zuckerberg keep coming. Where’s the privacy it promised us?

Right now, I can’t think of any idea that’s far more engaging than what Pinterest is. But I’m not one to talk when it comes to the business side of these social networks. Who knows? That kid sitting in front of me in the train could be the next billionaire because he made a far more better idea than these social networks combined. And yet, I can feel that Pinterest won’t die anytime soon – just developing.

We live in the world where online business is one of the easiest ways to earn money online. If you are a businessman, you should save more and spend less while getting more than what you are paying for. Televising the advertisements for your business [...]

We live in the world where online business is one of the easiest ways to earn money online. If you are a businessman, you should save more and spend less while getting more than what you are paying for. Televising the advertisements for your business is not a smart thing to do. If your business just merely started, there is a cheaper advertising and marketing method and as effective as televised advertisements.

As we all know, search engines are best places in the internet where you can find what you are looking for. SEOs help searchers to look what they are trying to find. SEO is a cheaper way of advertising your business through article marketing, blogging, forum posting, directory submission, press release and social bookmarking. Businessmen should take advantage of SEO.

Many online businessmen have been traumatized of what happened to their business, after the “Panda” and “Penguin” update which Google rolled out on “April 24, 2012″ and started spreading the news that SEO is not the best for their business. Break the myth, “Panda” and “Penguin” update roll out is for those online businesses using illegal or third party tools to initiate their business marketing campaign and gave penalty to a lot of online businesses. Google is trying to give relevant search result that is why they need to update their algorithm. Rand Fishkin, from seomoz.org stated that SEO is almost an illegal thing to do, but, Google will allow this as long as SEOs will bring natural and not spam signal.

“Panda” and “Penguin” update penalty can be avoided, if you will try to be natural as possible by diversifying your keywords; it is most likely impossible for natural bloggers and searchers to link to your website using the same anchor text, right? Another thing is branding, use social media marketing to build a brand for your business online, this is one way to get your business closer to Google’s heart. Bring more traffic through link baiting – a strategy that uses info graphics, humor, criticism and information to lure searchers to visit your website and react to what you have posted.

Being the best in what we do, we master and refine our strategy according to different search engine algorithm of giving relevant results. To hear that “We rock!” and “We did a good job” is not unusual to us. CreativeFrappe© as the best “SEO” services provider in the Philippines is something we can brag and be proud.

It all started a few months ago when our planned outing didn’t happen because of a natural calamity which made everything unconventional as days passed by. We were waiting for the perfect time and the perfect moment to ease away from stress but we didn’t know when. Summer did not even came to mind which was odd considering it’s that time of the year where people don’t have to think of anything else but the place they’re laxing in.

Until one day, last year’s summer escapade was brought up. The new members of the team suggested that Midway (last year’s venue) was the perfect place. Like a bullet, planning started and excitement filled the entire room. Plans of trying every amenities of Midway spread like gossip. Until finally, we were able to stick with a certain schedule (yes, we’re organized that way) and assigned specific people to do their jobs when we get there. And the date set? May 18 and 19.

Imagine planning the whole thing three months ahead and waiting for it, as well. Summer escapade was a day to day topic. It never slipped everybody’s mind. We’ll let you in on our inside joke, though; to sleep early in the evening to make it seem like the days are running by faster than the usual. Normally, most of us would often sleep late in the evening. We were that excited!

Then, May 17 came. The main event is just a sleep away. Truth be told, the whole Creative Frappe team prepped up for the event; buying board shorts in a hurry, reread the schedules and tasks and other preparations unimaginably funny.

And finally… May 18 finally arrived!!!

Everybody was incredibly busy, packing up foods, sealing them, loading other things at the back of the truck, and settled. Next thing we know, we were driving on our way to the beach resort. The second best part that made the journey all the more great is that the weather was somehow with us. Rain didn’t fall down and the sun was perfectly shining.

When we set our foot on the venue, we couldn’t wait to get on our bunks, dump our bags and had a go at the inviting beach waters. After dinner, we got ready for some camp fire and literally burned some marshmallows, badly. But it was all good! Because we had too much fun eating and wading in the water we were able to get a get on our bunks at 3 in the morning. Our 1st day just ended and we can’t wait for what’s in store for us tomorrow.

8 AM came. We ate our breakfast, chatted a little in our room and headed directly to the beach. The team couldn’t contain their enjoyment when they saw the banana boat they were supposed to try first. Everybody got tossed in the water twice – the highlight of the ride. Then, we gave the Jet Ski a try. The rental fee was a bit expensive but who cares? We were riding it and most of us are going to experience driving and getting on a Jet Ski for the first time.
You can’t imagine how literally fun that was – scary fun, but fun just the same. Zipline, kayak and snorkelling came up next to which the boys enjoyed very much. We couldn’t get them out of the water even if it was time to eat.

The day was about to end but the fun isn’t going to go away anytime soon. Being kids at heart, the team played a childhood game called “patintero”. It was a draw yet none felt the need to become winners. We were having just too much fun.

By 5 PM, our time at the beach closed in. We packed up our things and said goodbye to whole resort. Before exiting the gates of the resort, we took one last look at the place and smiled. We will come back sooner than you know it.

Now we all know that algorithm shifts are part of Goggle’s way of improving the internet world as well as the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) for the good of all people or so that’s what they say. For most people including my own, Goggle’s algorithm shift makes our lives a little bit more difficult and easier in one way or another. Now with its latest algorithm shift called Google Penguin, many of those people wearing black hats are now forced to change the way they do their jobs everyday. Personally I find this update to be right on time. With a new update comes a new way of working and I love it.

Unlike its predecessor the Google Panda which was first released on February 2011, it focuses more on CONTENT. I for one supported the Panda update since I was getting tired of reading all these spunned articles all over the web. And believe me there are a whole lot of them, most of which were taken from famous article submission sites and then reposted on to their specific blogs. These people need to make some stuff on their own, it never is fun to have an article that you worked hard for just get copied and spunned by another person. Even with the update people still kept on spamming dozens of articles with no regard at all. Some even don’t think that highly of the Panda update and perhaps they are right in doing so, but the Google Penguin is another story, in one day the Penguin impacted 3.1% of English queries compared to Panda’s 1.0%. Can’t imagine a penguin being more scary than a panda but in this case it most certainly is. Those black hat users better watch out.

The Google Penguin or the webspam update was made to combat black hat SEO. The internet is filled with spammers who use black hat techniques in order for them to get high ranking on SERPs which some actually succeed. Good thing this update came out and made us feel a tad bit happy about what we do. From what I have been saying you would know that I’m on the light side of the SEO world and it is never easy with all these black hats running around.

When it was released on the 24th of April many were quite surprised. In a single day ranking on SERPs changed drastically. Some well known sites disappeared from SERPs. Unknown sites came in number one on search engines. Which is just plain sad. Imagine an unknown site with bad content. I don’t know what those site owners were thinking of during that time but in a wild guess I think it would be shock and anger. I read all sorts of complain from different site owners and bloggers about the Penguin being a bit unfair. Most of them are claiming to be white hat users and that most of their backlinks are organic. If what they are saying is true then Google needs to do something about it. But that’s only if they really are at fault but for the time being we need to do our jobs and find a way to counter this monster Penguin since it is here to stay.

Wuddup, cats?

Friday (April 20) was definitely a groovy night at the Creative Frappe HQ. Everyone was up for some retro time!
It was definitely a “be there or be squared” event since the people at the company have already planned on what they’re going to wear to the party weeks before. Far out, eh?

The night was filled with great music from the neighborhood and the food was slammin’. There wasn’t a single soul that didn’t come back to the table and brought more food on their plates. It was that delicious! And that’s not the only thing that was keeping the whole event alive.

Everyone’s retro outfits were just as funky as the people of Creative Frappe are. Gone was the modern aura and in came the old school atmosphere – bell bottoms, bright-colored shirts, the Flower Power, retro aviators and more! Talk about nostalgia.

Other than celebrating Retro night, we also dedicated this event to one of our creative and productive teammates, Dorina, who will be taking a step forward to focus more on her family and other personal matters. Creative Frappe is so lucky to have her on the team wagon but, unfortunately, just like everything else in this world, we have to set her free. She did not only get to dine and party with us but she also got herself a little surprise from the team. A few days before, Creative Frappe made a signature frame for her where we were able to pen our messages of “Good luck!”. Ooh! And we also received a tasty spaghetti made by Dorina herself.

Was Retro Night a night to remember? You bet it is! Was the team able to scream boo-yah because of how awesome the party went? Yes, we did!

And we won’t be stopping on this even alone because this part just got even better. What’s next for us? You’ll never know and we’ll keep you posted. And you’ll be just as excited as we already are.

Catch you on the flip side!

SEO Approach – Viral Marketing for Online Success

“The big question is answerable only by keeping it going …”

Search Engine Optimization is likely to be more complex today since the development of the Google algorithm where the term SEO is originally connoted. So today, many SEO professionals wonder what 2012 can offer for SEO especially in link building.

Search Engine Optimization is a never-ending task, most especially when you are working on very competitive and popular phrases. That, in its sense, is the biggest pressure of making certain and guaranteeing to search engines that these links are built naturally. So what can you do to make sure search engines look at your site favorably?

“Set up your site correctly.”

The BIG question is answerable only by keeping it going and doing it “organically”. Prioritize your link building approach in the right direction;

1.	Check that your content is something that people might want to look or search for. It would be better in innovating ideas and spend on it than just merely submitting to web directories.

2.	Make sure that you have set up social networking profiles/accounts and that you are actively participating on.

3.	Set up your site correctly. Factors such as on-site as well as off-site matters most in search engine optimization.

4.	Be sure that you have a blog which you can update regularly on your website.

5.	Submit your site to top site directories.

6.	Post articles to major article directories (make sure that the articles are all different).

7.	Submit to major social bookmarking sites regularly; bookmark your most recent content.

8.	Connect and speak to people about adding your site on their list/site.

9.	Participate in forums/blog communities and point people to your site where it can answer their questions.

10.	Monitor your progress in search engines using various tools that are available online; you can also use tools suggested by members in the communities.

“Place your social media icons where people can see them…”

Search Engine Optimization needs to know how you want people to find you. If you are an SEO company based in Sacramento and your main keyword is “SEO Sacramento” then your links need to show this. More organic links will not be as accurate but we’re confident that the links are significant at your end.

Don’t forget the social media buttons on your site. These allow people to rate your content and can only become more necessary to search engine algorithms. Google +1, Facebook likes and Tweets are all crucial. Put them where your audience can see them and encourage people to click on them. Get ahead of your competition and build your numbers up.

Search engine optimization has got to be part of an overall internet marketing approach to attest that your end goal is successful. This keeps focus on your efforts and permits you to really look at what you want before you start spending time and money on it.
